ON THE WAY…

Goal: To teach the chanichim the story about “Shayeret  HaLamed Hei”.

A.The story of the lamed hei-

-January 1948 a group of 38 guys left Jerusalem to “Gush Etzion”.

-1 hurt his leg so 2 other guys took him back to Jerusalem

-they took the long way because the Jordanians were there.

-on the way they met an old Arab they did not know what to do.on one hand they did not want to kill an innocent old man, but on the other hand they were afraid that he would call other Arab’s to attack them…  

at this point stop the story

divide your chanichim into 2 groups. Each group will represent one of the following views-

1.”we should not take a chance  and even though we feel bad , our life is worth more than the individual Arab that we met, therefor we should kill him”

2.”this Arab is harmless and even if we are taking a chance that he might go and call other Arabs to come and kill us we should still be fair and not kill him”

after the discussion tell your chanichim what happened…

-they felt bad for the Arab so they did not kill him

 -the Arab called his friends and they  attacked them

-all of the 35 guys were killed

B. tell your chanichim the story about Rabbi Aryeh Levin.

Divide your chanichim into 2 groups. One group will be  x  and one group will be  0.
