מסמר בקיר:

 

בסין חי לו מורה חכם גדול, ולאותו מורה היה תלמיד בטלן פי כמה יותר גדול.

יום אחד קרא המורה לאותו תלמיד ואמר לו: "בני, בוא נעשה עיסקה, אני לא מבקש ממך לעשות שום דבר, רק בכל יום שלא עשית כלום - קח מסמר ותקע אותו בקיר".

הסכים התלמיד ובכל יום  שבו לא עשה כלום, תקע מסמר בקיר.

בסוף השנה לאחר 365 ימים מצא התלמיד בקיר 365 מסמרים. התלמיד הבחין מיד שהוא מבזבז את ימיו לריק. לכן אמר למורה: "אינני רוצה עוד לבזבז את ימי לריק, מה אוכל לעשות?"

ענה לו המורה: "מעתה בכל יום שבו תעשה משהו - תשלול מהקיר מסמר".

התלמיד עשה כדברי המורה, ולאחר שנה לא נשאר אף מסמר בקיר.

התלמיד הבין את אשר עבר עליו והצטער מאד על שלא ניצל את זמנו מלכתחילה, ושנה שלימה בזבז מחייו. מאותו היום היה זה התלמיד המצטיין של המורה הגדול מסין.

 

מהתלמיד הנ"ל נלמד כולנו לנצל כל רגע מחיינו, על מנת שבעוד שנים לא נביט אחורה ונגלה שלא עשינו דבר.
