Ice Breakers
• All of the kids sit in a circle and there is one extra seat. The one who has the extra seat on his right needs to shout another kid’s name and the kid whose name was called needs to run and sit in the spare seat. Now, the spare seat is on the right of another kid… and so on…
When a kid didn’t notice that his name was called, between three seconds, he’s out and a chair is taken out.
Round two: Now when someone’s name is called, the person sitting to the right of the person whose name was called needs to go and sit in the empty chair. When someone eventually gets out, and other chair is removed, and then the person sitting TWO seats to the right of the new name that is called needs to sit in the empty chair, etc etc etc.
• BREAK THE ICE
The madrich/a will bring a paper cup with frozen water and pass among the chanichim. When the cup reach a chanich he has to tell couple things about himself and pass it to the next chanich. When the madrich gets the cup he will tell about himself and than through the cup on the floor and say : after we all got to know each other we can break the ice.
• Cross the room
Goal: Breaking down the lines that divide us.
Have the chanichim stand in two lines facing each other. The Madrich says different things and if the chanichim have done what the madrich says they have to switch spots with someone on the other team. Questions should relate to Bnei Akiva activities as well as general. i.e. liking Chinese food, has been to Australia, has been to a Bnei Akiva machine, never been to KMCB should be the last one.
• People to people
Goal: Knowing their names
Have the chanichim walk around the room. When the leader claps their hands, the chanichim must find a partner. The leader tells the group to have a short conversation with their partner about anything- their name, where they live, favorite ice cream flavor etc. They then become as one- and have to move around as a pair. When the leader claps their hands again, a pair and a pair need to initiate a conversation. Then the 4 walk around together. When there are 8 in the group, have them make circles. Distribute any remaining between the other groups. There should be 5 groups. Go around the circle, each person saying the name of the person to their right, and briefly introducing them.
