Rav Dimi and Rav Shmuel bar Yehuda disagreed concerning this same issue, both of them saying their opinion in the name of Reb Elazar. One of them said that if the pot is still in hishand, it is permissible to return it to the kirah. But if he placed it on the ground then it is forbidden to return it to the kirah, and the other said that if he placed the pot on the ground, then it is still permissible to return it to kirah.
Chizkia said in the name of abaye, the previously stated idea that if the pot is still in his hands it is permissible to return it to kirah, is only talking about a case when he intended to return it whan he took it off, but if he did not originally intend to burn it, it is forbidden to return it. This implies that even if one originally intended to return it, but put it on the ground, it is still forbidden to return it.
There are those who see rav chizkias teachings as follows: Chizkiyah said in the name of Abaye: that which you stated, that if he pleaced a pot on the ground it is forbidden to return it to Kirah, is only said in a case where he did not originally intend to return it there, but if he originally intended to return it to Kirah, it is permissible to return it even if it has been placed on the ground. This implies that if the pot is still in hishand, even if he did not intend to return it, it is permissible to return it to the Kirah.
Rav Yirmiyah asked: if he hung the pot on a peg, what is the law? And if he put a pot on a bed, what is the law? Are these similar to the laws of placing the pot on the ground, or of holding it in ones own hand?
If one transferred hot water that he had removed from a kirah, from one kettle to another, what is the law? Let them stand – wait till Eliyahu hanevi, melech mashiach, comes and he will answer the question.
