Goal:

To understand the task undertaken by the chalutzim by defining the achievements required to reclaim and rebuild the Land of Israel.

Resource Contents

Introduction

The desolate state of  the land of Eretz Yisrael one hundred years ago was not a recent occurrence.  The changes which occurred were not initiated by  the Jews  living in Eretz Yisrael but rather by the new olim and their commitment to reclaim and rebuild the land.  The vision and energy of these olim defined the history and physical state of Eretz Yisrael.

The new olim were willing to take an active part in rebuilding Eretz Yisrael and it is this attitude towards commitment and action that we wish to impart to the chanichim.

Implementation:

This peula is a continuation of the last sicha on the status of Eretz Yisrael 100 year ago.  Whereas the last sicha discussed the actual condition of the Land of Israel prior to its reclamation, this sicha discusses what needs to be done in order to reclaim and rebuild Eretz Yisrael.  The year is 1895 and the chanichim are asked to participate on a committee whose task is to create a plan for the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael.

The purpose of the enclosed exercise is not to arrive at a certain answer but rather to gain a better understanding of the many and monumental goals to be achieved in the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael and the participation and contribution needed of each person in order to accomplish those goals.

As a kvutza, or in two groups with a madrich/a supervising each group, complete the enclosed form.

Mention that the completed form will be included in the choveret.

The year is 1895.  Your group has been chosen to coordinate the plan for rebuilding Eretz Yisrael.  Your job is to discuss and decide how best to accomplish this goal with the limited resources available.

1.         The first decision is what things are most important to do in order to rebuild Eretz Yisrael.   Discuss and decide the order of importance of the following items and mark them from 1 (most important) to 10.
